Corvus Proofreading

Whether you have written a novel, non-fiction book or technical manual, I will use my proofreading skills to assist you to be as clear and grammatically correct as possible. Whatever it is that you want to say, I will do my utmost to help you say it successfully and with proper punctuation.

Your Proof

Your proofread copy will be returned to you as written, with corrections highlighted and notated. You, as the author, make all final decisions about changes to the text to ensure that the voice remains your own and that only oversights are corrected.

Your Review

Whether you are an author or publisher, I will write a review of your work according to your specifications. Normally my reviews are from 300 to 500 words, and may be published in whole or in part in a periodical or on your website or book.

Our Services

Proofreading

This last stage review before going to the print or publishing stage checks for punctuation, spelling, grammar, typos, etc. Proofreading is not an editing service, but rather a last check after all the editorial passes have been made.

Do you need a pre or post publishing review?

A review is an important tool to help many readers make the decision to purchase your book. Whether by reading your complete review in a magazine or on a website, or a portion of it on your back cover, it can often be the deciding factor in making their purchase. Follow the link below to read some of my past reviews.

Reviews

Copyediting is a more extensive service than proofreading. Many of the same checks will be performed, but the text will also be reviewed for fact-checking, sequential layout, checking the accuracy of the table of contents, bibliography footnotes and so forth. Recommendations may also be made for syntax and word repetition.

Meet your reader…

John MacKinnon

I am a writer, reviewer and proofreader.

An avid reader since childhood, the world of words has always been an important part of my life. Since my retirement from my professional career in Historic Restoration, I have remained active by managing a non-profit, acting as an Interpreter and Guide for Historic Homes, speaking at conferences and workshops, writing magazine articles and book reviews.

I travel widely whenever I can and follow a wide variety of interests including science, spirituality, environmentalism, anthropology, archaeology, history and good fiction. I have very good attention to detail and I would be happy to lend my eyes to your project!
