Copyediting

Copyediting is the stage in the editing process that focuses on making a piece of writing clear, correct, and consistent. Though there will of course be some general proofreading as part of the process, the major focus will be on the clarity and consistancy of the whole project and will include Fact-checking, checking for proper sequencing of chapters and pages, accuracy of time lines, offering replacements for echo words, (words that are used repeatedly), double-checking the table of contents, footnotes, bibliography, etc…

This process can be very involved and may require frequent consultation with the author. It should also be completed before the final proofreading. The cost for this service will vary depending on the subject material and length of the work. In general, non-fiction work is more involved and therefore more expensive than fiction.
